Focusing on the second half of life, actions to ensure healthy ageing can and should be taken at all ages. Representing the life-course approach includes a healthy start to life. 90% of Australians believe ageism exists in Australia, and a majority of Australians believe that ageism is a problem.
In Australia, ageism is prevalent across 3 different age groups:
Dementia is not a single disease but rather an umbrella term used to describe loss of memory. As Yutopia aligns with the United Nations' vision, we join governments, international agencies, professionals, academia and the media to tackle the negative stigma associated with ageing and ageism in Australia.
While Australian population are ageing at a faster pace, Yutopia wish to combat the negative stigma in 4 key areas.
